 ХРАМОВИЙ ПРАЗНИК ТА ЮВІЛЕЙНІ СВЯТКУВАННЯ В АСТОРІЇ

                                                                           – ПАРАФІЇ ЧЕСНОГО ХРЕСТА

 

   У неділю 24 вересня відбулися урочисті святкування в храмі Чесного Хреста Господнього в Асторії, який обслуговують Отці Василіяни: Храмовий Празник з нагоди Воздвиження Чесного Хреста Господнього, 400-ліття мученицької смерті святого священномученика Йосафата, 60-ліття священства о. Вернарда Панчука, ЧСВВ, 40-ліття священства о. Володимира Рибіцього, ЧСВВ та представлення його як нового парафіяльного сотрудника, як також відбулося прощання з попереднім сотрудником о. Йосафатом Ковалем, ЧСВВ, якого переводять на нове місце служіння – монастир і храм Різдва Пресвятої Богородиці у Пейлос Парк біля Чікаґо.

     Святкові богослужіння очолив Протоігумен Провінції Успіння Пресвятої Богородиці о. Василь Салковський, ЧСВВ. З ним співслужили: о. Маріо Дацишин, ЧСВВ, парох парафії Чесного Хреста, о. Йоан Лубів, ЧСВВ, ігумен монастиря св. Юрія та парох парафії на Менгеттен, о. Володимир Рибіцький та о. Йосафат Коваль. Дияконував диякон Андрій Прадивус. Величавість ювілейних святкувань звеличив професійний спів хору під вмілим деригуванням п. Анни Бачинської (деякі частини Св. Літургії співав дяк парафії Чесного Хреста п. Михайло Гринюх).

     Під час Св. Літургії о. Кирило Іщук, ЧСВВ сповідав вірних. Велика кількість вірних взяла участь у святкуваннях – на Св. Літургії були присутні 185 вірних (щонеділі на Сл. Божу приходять біля 70 вірних), з них 95 приступили до Св. Причастя.

     Під час проповіді о. Протоігумен наголосив на важливості святкування: найперше – Храмового Празника й наголосив на значенні хреста Господнього у житті християнина – з Божою допомогою здолаємо всілякі життєві труднощі та випробування. Опісля о. Василь згадав про 400-літній ювілей мучеництва святого Йосафата та його значення для нас сьогодні. Проповідник також звернувся до вірних англійською мовою, адже живемо у США й не всі є українцями й не розуміють українську мову, а Слово Боже звернене до всіх людей.

​

     По звершенні Св. Літургії о. Протоігумен подякував о. Йосафату за служіння в парафії Чесного Хреста й представив нового парафіального сотрудника – о. Володимира Рибіцього і побажав їм Божого благословення на новому місці служіння. Після цього діти парафії привітали отців Володимира та Йосафата. Опісля, священики й вірні помолилися молитву в наміренні Святійшого Отця, щоб отримати повний відпуст. Святкування у храмі завершилися мируванням та благословення мощами св. свмч. Йосафата, яке здійснив о. Йоан.

​

     Парафіяльні святкування продовжилися святковим обідом та розіграшем парафіяльної лотереї. Під час обіду ювілярів привітав о. Протоігумен. Від імені парафіян п. Ігор Лібер подякував о. Йосафату за служіння у парафії Чесного Хреста й побажав, щоб Господь і надалі його благословив. Зі словами привітань та подяки до вірних звернулися отці Йосафат та Володимир. Як також від Марійської Дружини ювілярів привітала п. Наталя Гришко. Вітання линули також від парафіян обидвох парафій.

  Хочемо висловити слова вдячності всім, хто допоміг в організації ювілейних святкувань: всім нашим парафіянам, а особливо парафіянам та Марійський Дружині з Парафії св. Юрія, що на Менгеттені.

 The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and Jubilee Celebrations

                                                                                         – Holy Cross Parish

 

     On Sunday, September 24th, solemn celebrations took place at Holy Cross Church in Astoria, NY which is served by the priests of the Order of Saint Basil the Great, commonly known as the Basilian Fathers: these included the feast day of the parish, namely the Exaltation of the Holy Cross of the Lord, the 400th Jubilee of the martyrdom of the holy martyr Josaphat Kuntsevych, the 60th anniversary of the priesthood of Fr. Bernard Panczuk, OSBM, the 40th anniversary of the priesthood of Fr. Walter Rybicky, OSBM and his presentation as the new parish associate, as well as the farewell to the current associate, Fr. Yosafat Koval, OSBM, who is being transferred to his new place of service - the residence and the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Palos Park near Chicago.

     The celebratory liturgy was led by Fr. Provincial Superior Basil Salkovski, OSBM, who is the Provincial Superior of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary American Province. Serving with him were Fr. Mario Dacechen, OSBM, pastor of Holy Cross, Fr. Yoan Lubiv, OSBM, Ihumen Superior and pastor of the monastery at St. George in Manhattan, as well as its current pastor, Fr. Volodymyr Rybicky and Fr. Yosafat Koval. Fr. Cyril (Kyrylo) Iszezuck, OSBM served as confessor to the faithful. Assisting in the service was Deacon Andriy Pradyvus. The magnificence of the anniversary celebrations was enhanced by the harmonious voices of the guest choir from St. George parish under the skillful direction of Ms. Anna Bachynska, as well as the resident cantor of Holy Cross, Mr. Mykhailo Hrynyukh. In attendance were 185 faithful, many of whom were guests of the roughly 70 regular parishioners, with a total of 95 receiving Holy Communion.

​

     During the sermon, Fr. Provincial emphasized the importance of the celebration: first of all, the church feast day focusing on the importance of the Lord's cross in the life of a Christian, that is, with God's help we will overcome all kinds of life's difficulties and trials. Secondly, Fr. Basil touched upon the 400-year anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Josaphat and its significance for us today. Finally, since there were also non-Ukrainian speaking among the faithful, Fr. Basil addressed them in English, as the Word of God is meant for all people.

​

     At the conclusion of the Holy Liturgy, the Fr. Superior thanked Fr. Yosafat for his service in the parish of the Holy Cross and introduced the new parish associate - Fr. Walter Rybicky and wished them both God's blessing in their new assignments. Likewise, the children of the parish congratulated Fathers Walter and Yosafat with flowers and greetings they had memorized. Then the priests and the faithful prayed a prayer in the intention of the Holy Father to receive a complete indulgence. Solemn celebrations in the church ended with anointing with oil and veneration of the relics of the martyr St. Josaphat, which were carried by Fr. Yoan.

​

     Parish celebrations continued with a festive luncheon and parish raffle. During the luncheon, the celebrants were greeted by Fr. Basil. On behalf of the parishioners, Mr. Ihor Lieber thanked Fr. Yosafat for his service in the parish of Holy Cross and wished that the Lord would continue to bless him. Fathers Yosafat and Walter addressed the faithful with words of greeting and thanks. Ms. Natalya Hryshko also greeted the jubilarians in the name of Mothers in Prayer group. Many parishioners from both parishes also poured out their own personal best wishes for the day’s festivities.

​

     The Basilian Fathers would like to express their gratitude to all those who worked to organize the jubilee celebrations and make it a memorable day: to all the parishioners of Holy Cross, and a special thanks to the parishioners and members of Mothers in Prayer from our sister parish of St. George.
